Before the heat of the day Nora climbed the 500 steps to the top of the Duomo to view the city.  A trip to the leather school at Santa Croce came next and then some time to meet friends from home for gelato.  In the afternoon she scaled the “mountain” to Piazza Michelangelo and the church of San Miniato al Monte.  To cap the day she helped drive a horse carriage through the center of town.
